Can attorneys erase your criminal record?
I have a class B misdemeanor, in my record from 2006 in harris county TX, and i was wondering, if i hire an attorney would they be able to help me and expunge it?
Yes – or at least, they can help you with the process.
While you don’t need an attorney to apply for a pardon/expungement there are attorneys who will help you with the process. At first glance it appears that Texas is a state where expungement is particularly complex – requiring an application to the court. Depending on why you need your record expunged, you may want to apply for either a full or conditional pardon instead.
You might try browsing the website or even contacting the clemency section of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles (Link below, includes address and telephone number).
If you think you need a lawyer to help you, they may be able to provide a list – though a quick web search or glance at the yellow pages will probably yield a lot of options for attorneys that could help you.
